The main objective of Human Resources is to maximise employee contribution. By facilitating personal development and job satisfaction, employees will be motivated to perform better. By linking employees’ efforts with the organisation’s main goals they will see how their work influences the whole organisation.
The process involves defining goals and expectations on and individual level so that each and every employee knows where to focus his or her energy, which tasks are more and less important. This in turn, will support the employee as he sees how he contributes to the "greater good" and it will boost the organisation through a motivated employee that performs. The employee will also be motivated by the fact that people in the organisation can see the effects of his work, facilitating appraisal by peers as well as superiors.
